Ooma Telo Review

Picture
The Ooma Telo VOIP telephone service is a great alternative to 'pull the plug' on your telephone service, provided you have a reliable internet service.

Outside Looks

The Ooma Telo's outer casing is a matte finish, so fingerprints won't be attracted to the device. However, this surface is a dust magnet, so if you tuck the device away somewhere, be prepared to see a lot of dust that is hard to get off. The box is pretty small, and is compact to fit in small places. This can be great to hide where your router is. I like the on-screen buttons, and also, it is great that you can also turn off the lights like I do if you think they are too bright.

Functionality

The Ooma Telo doesn't only act as a great free home phone service alternative, but also doubles as a voicemail system, and features to call on your mobile device. There is a feature where you can download the Ooma app on your Android or iOS device to call with your phone number or to receive calls from your phone number. The voicemail is really customizable, since you can change the amount of rings, the personalized messaged, and things a standard voicemail would have.

Call Quality

Considering that the Ooma Telo charges no monthly fees compared to other VOIP services, you might expect that the call quality is bad. However, my experiences with the call quality has been great. My internet speeds I have currently with Verizon FiOS is 25/25 Mbps, however, I've had Optimum's 50/25 Mpbs internet, and I have no problems at all. The call breaks up here and there, but not often at all. Listen to the sample call I recorded.

Worth the Price?

In my opinion, yes. For only have to pay $99.99 to purchase the device once, and after that, all you have to pay is applicable taxes and fees for the devices, which is about $4 per month. You can check that here: http://www.ooma.com/savings/#frmid

Right now, if you purchase, with this special link, you can purchase the Ooma Telo device for only $99.99 and free shipping, and get it directly from Ooma with the perks of buying it directly from the manufacturer such as better support, better warranty, and better return policies.
