Let me first start off with the design of the the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8 Android. This, in my opinion is the most solid design ever in a tablet. It's constructed with metal and hard plastic, which is a great mixture between the two materials. It feels very solid, and doesn't feel like a $200 device at all, it feels more like a $500 device. I had the iPad (sold it), and this tablet definitely feels much better, but without the hefty price tag. The four modes: hang, hold, tilt, and stand, is genius. I had the original Yoga Tablet, but after the release of this new one, I decided to go buy one. Currently on Lenovo INsiders shop page, it costs $199, and just $6.78 for the case, which I would definitely recommend if you purchase the tablet. I had the original Yoga Tablet's case, and one design flaw of the case is that you can't charge the device if the case is on, because the case covers the Micro USB port. However, Lenovo listened to its customers, and with this new case, the port is available to use even if the case is on, a great improvement.
I will admit, last year's tablet was great, but there was some things on the bad side. The performance wasn't up to par, and the software wasn't as seamless as I think it should of been. With this new Yoga tablet, all of these issues from the last generation disappeared! The Intel processor and 2GB of ram is more than ready to handle anything you throw at it, and the software is definitely improved. I like the combination of iOS and Android. It is simple to use, but I still get the features I want because it is Android. The software is a huge step from last year, and it seems that software optimization is greatly improved! The display was also improved from last year's model. I didn't have much issues with last year's model display, but playing Angry Birds Go!, pixels are really visible in the last year's model, and this year, you have to really use a magnify glass to see the pixels.
Games such as Dead Trigger, Angry Birds, Crossy Roads, Jetpack Joyride, Real Racing 3 ran flawlessly. The Intel processor and graphics handle it flawlessly. Even with many background processes, the games had no stutter. Web browsing, reading, and movie watching was also great, especially for the four modes that it has.
Sound performance is excellent. With Dolby Digital, it feels clear and loud, just like last year's model.
Battery life is WOW! I played games on this for the whole day, and I didn't turn it off after I finished, and it still has 48% charge. The 6400mAh battery really justifies for this long lasting battery life. One great feature is USB OTG, where I can actually use this huge battery to charge other devices.
Conclusion: I think that the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8 Android is a drastic improvement over last year's tablet. For only $199, there is absolutely NO other tablet out that can offer this great specs, design, quality, and just overall usage. I bought this with student discount at Lenovo for $199, and the case for $27.99, but it seems that the case price has dropped to only $6.78! If you are interested, check out the link below, it is the Lenovo INsiders discount. They even make other ones too, like 10 inch Android, 8 inch and 10 inch Windows, and the 13.3 Yoga Tablet Pro with the projector.
