Today, Lenovo's LaVie Z's laptop series comes out, and I am extremely excited about it! Just in case you didn't know, this laptop was a big hit at CES 2015, resulting in many awards from companies like CNET, PCMAG, and much more. It is officially the world's lightest laptop. Before you predict that this laptop skimped in performance to make it this light, it includes a 5th generation Intel i7 CPU! That is extremely fast, especially for a laptop this size. It also includes a great display, coming in at 2560x1440, which is a great resolution, even though it might not be as good as Lenovo's Yoga. Secret behind this? The laptop utilizes a magnesium lithium alloy, which is just as strong as a stand magnesium alloy, but weighs much less. There are two models, one that is a standard ultra light laptop, and another model that can be bent backward, similar to Lenovo's wonderful YOGA line of products.
So Who IS This For?
Why would someone want such a light laptop? I know, me! As a student, having a laptop that can be so light with such performance would be a great alternate to lets say, the MacBook. Yup, that's right, the one that Lenovo was making fun of on social media. #Imnoapple For college students, this laptop weighs almost nothing, built reliably, and can store everything you want on it. Also, anyone who wants lightness and thinness, without skimping on performance would appreciate this laptop.
I do have to mention, though, that this laptop was created with a partnership between NEC, and Lenovo. Background information about NEC, it is a Japanesse based computer company, and this is the first time Lenovo is bringing products from their partnership out of Japan, and I think it will be extremely successful!
Now in terms of pricing and availability, it is being sold starting today on Lenovo's website, and there is currently only one configuration with the Intel i7 processor, for over $1000. I am pretty sure that Lenovo will release newer models that uses an i3 or i5 processor, so it won't cost so much for those who don't need such beastly performance. With the link below, you will get a good deal on this laptop or any laptop you buy from Lenovo, it is Lenovo's special INsiders shopping link.
