Lenovo Gaming Tablet
Yes, I know that Lenovo's #DesignWithUs social media challenge has ended, and also Lenovo usually releases a new tablet every October, but that doesn't stop me from thinking up of new ideas. This idea I thought of is a gaming tablet. The name of it couldn be anything, with endless possibility, but Lenovo's X series is their desktop gaming, and Lenovo's Y series is their laptop gaming, so perhaps Lenovo Z Tablet for this idea? Drawings of this idea is below, and my description for each as well.
In here, I put an NVIDIA Tegra K1 CPU 192 Core Soc, which is a great choice for mobile gamers. It delivers the performance and graphics in a small package. 3GB of RAM would be a great addition to supplement this CPU. Now there are two small speakers, similar to the Yoga tablets, and one long strip on the top. It would use Dolby Atmos sound, so that it would sound great, and when you plug in a headphone, it would sound great as well. Wireless AC wifi, bluetooth, GPS, and all the standard should be included, along with LTE data optional since some games may use data to run. External storage is a great bonus, especially when it comes to a gaming device, since games take up a lot of space. It will be fully equip with 2 megapixel front facing and a 8 mega pixel rear facing camera, which would get the job done. Now, it would use the cylindrical design of the Yoga, which would house the battery. However, there will be two batteries, one in that cylindrical design, and one over the display, since battery life is crucial with gaming tablets.
This is the front view. Again, you can see the three speakers, one long strip on the top, and one on each side of the cylindrical grip, similar to the Yoga tablets. A red grilled colored speaker would look great, especially on a gaming tablet. It looks great on the Y50 gaming laptop, and would also look great on a gaming tablet. There will be no need for a stand in this design, since most gamers on a tablet won't use it much, but that extra bulk that houses the battery gives you a good grip, and allows for a comfortable hold while playing games. Instead of the stand, the space could be used for a battery. The display for the 8 inch or 10 inch should be full hd, 1920 * 1200. Also, a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 would be great for extra protection, just in case some gamers rage quit and throw their tablet on the floor. This protection will help the tablet survive that fall. The speakers would be a Dolby Atmos system, so that it would sound great, with or without headphones.
Again, it would house a 8 megapixel rear camera, and no stand, unlike the Yoga tablets. The back should use the brushed metal finish that feels great, like the one on the Lenovo Y50. And the new logo would be great, the one announced at Lenovo Kickoff 2015.
Now this design isn't specifically for a gaming tablet, but can be used for the Yoga tablets in general. It would utilize a two digit e-ink display that would tell you the battery percentage without turning on the device. It would have a backlight that would change colors to red when there is a notification, and a light blue otherwise.
Software
Since this is a gaming tablet, Lenovo should try to keep the software as clean and simple as possible. This includes starting off with a 64-bit architecture, since the processor allows it. Next, there should be no other software changes, and just be kept vanilla Android. There could be one or two apps that would enhance the experience, but otherwise, it would be a pure Android experience, which would definitely enhance software optimization. Technically speaking, like a Moto X, just gaming tablet version.
Third Generation Lenovo Yoga Tablets
Now with Lenovo Yoga Tablets, there is not much that I think could be changed other then the specs. Well, the two options that Lenovo could use is the Intel Atom Processor Z3775D 2M Cache, up to 2.41 GHz. This is better than this generation's Z3745, both in graphics and performance perspective. Another great option is the Snapdragon. There might not be the Intel WIDI technology that you would benefit from the Intel processor.
In terms of software, Lenovo should have the latest version of Android, and have a choice for users to have the app drawer, or not. Since it would be the latest version of Android, Lenovo doesn't have to do much to change the software, but they could add some Lenovo apps, like Lenovo cooking, and other apps that would supplement the four modes.
I would really love the design of the power button that could tell you what battery percentage the tablet is, even though the tablet is in sleep mode. I was using my tablet, and this idea popped out of my brain, so I shared it with Teresa Rush-Edwards. Look below.
